Additional Information

Welcome to Mini Makers! In this document you’ll find important information about Mini Makers activity club.

About

Mini Makers is an activity club aimed at children from 3-5 years old. We run creative play workshops, to encourage creativity and confidence. Mini Makers primarily runs in the school holidays. We are also considering a Saturday drop-and-go craft workshop, once a month, for parents to enjoy some time on weekends while children explore activities through our club / workshops.

Who we are
The club is run by Rebecca Morrison and Amy Hall. Amy is a local artist who has experience running community art workshops. Rebecca is a qualified and experienced childcare practitioner. Rebecca holds a paediatric first aid certificate. We are both fully DBS checked and have separate public liability insurance. The premises where the club is based has their own insurance too.  We want children to have fun and be creative at our club, but we also want you to be confident your child is happy and safe.

Important information
1. Booking Form Registration: Please ensure you complete the booking form details before your child’s first session. You should normally do this at the time of booking; it includes important information such as emergency contacts and a password for collection. If, for any reason, we need more information after the time of booking, we will email you with any forms that may need filling.

2. Toilets: If your child needs the toilet, a member of staff will take them to the toilet and wait outside the door. If they require help using the toilet, for example a change of clothes or help wiping, we will assist them IF needed, but children will be encouraged to be as independent as possible. We will have potties / steps / toilet seats available too. If your child wears nappies/pull-ups please provide spares, and wipes and cream if necessary.

3. Safety: Your child will never be left alone without a member of the team who isn’t fully DBS checked. Currently all staff (Rebecca and Amy) have a clear DBS. We will lock doors that lead to community areas or entrances/exits to keep your child safe. We will do regular head counts, a register in the morning - once we have all children - and a register half-way through the session at snack time. Children will only be released to the adult who dropped them off or a person named on the child’s registration form. If another person will be collecting your child, please let us know and we can work with the password system.

4. Food / allergies: Children can bring a snack and snack time will be at 10.30. Water is available, if needed, but children are encouraged to bring their own bottles of water or juice. Please do not bring any items containing nuts or sesame. Rebecca, who is paediatric first aid certified, will always supervise the children whilst eating.

5. Emergencies: In the event of a medical emergency, we will, if necessary, call an ambulance. Parents/Guardians will always be notified by phone call if an accident occurs. We will hold a record of all accidents that happen at the club. Rebecca holds a paediatric first aid certificate, and we have access to a first aid box too. When you collect your child, you will be required to sign the accident form if they have had an accident. In the event of a missing child, the police and parents/guardians will be contacted immediately. In the event of a fire, the assembly point is at the corner of Crowgill Road. In the event of a fire/alarm, the staff will evacuate the children immediately via one of the several nearby fire exits.

6. Payment, Refunds and Cancellation: Payment is due at the time of booking. The current fee per child for a session is £25. This is the price for the sessions held in July and August 2025, and prices of future sessions may be subject to change. We cannot offer refunds for cancellations without at least 10 days’ notice. If you are unable to give at least ten days’ notice, we will try our best to swap your session if you wish to do so, but this will be subject to availability.

7. Clothing: Please make sure your child wears comfortable clothing and please make sure they do not wear their best clothes. Clothing may get wet/messy/stained due to the nature of the club. You may bring a change of clothes for your child if you wish.

8. Arrival and departure: Please bring your child to the main entrance when you arrive, and
collect them from the main entrance. Please don’t hesitate to contact us - we are a small, friendly team and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Privacy Policy

Any personal details provided at booking will be only be used for purposes of the sessions and will not be shared with any third party organisations. Any sensitive information will be kept confidential.

Accessibility

We aim to make sessions as accessible and inclusive as possible for all. Please make us aware of any access requirements prior to the session. If your child requires extra support, such as 1:1 support, then they will be required to attend the session accompanied by a parent or carer.
